PLEF Program Fundraising
Organizing, supporting, and promoting programs such as Ready! For Kindergarten…
In our district and nationwide, 44 percent of children entering kindergarten test below proficiency for learning readiness – and data verifies that children who start behind, stay behind. The READY! for Kindergarten program provides parents of children up to 5 years old with instruction, books and educational toys to help their children achieve success at the very start.
After four years of the READY! for Kindergarten program, 90 percent of children in the program now enter school testing at or above readiness levels.
READY! for Kindergarten was developed in 2002 by the Children’s Reading Foundation and the Kennewick (WA) School District, READY! for Kindergarten offers age-appropriate trainings, targets and tools for parents and caregivers of children birth to five years that ensure children success in school. Each Fall, Winter and Spring a session is held at Priest Lake Elementary for the parents to attend. Free childcare is provided. Find out more >>
PLEF currently provides for ongoing programs benefiting families in the Priest Lake community such as READY! For Kindergarten, Priest Lake Preschool and grants for Priest Lake Elementary students. All are provided at no charge to area families. The funding for
these programs come from generous corporate and private donations, fundraising events and grant programs such as the Idaho Community Foundation.
Preschool is offered at no cost to children living within the Priest Lake Elementary (PLE) school district boundaries. Two age groups attend classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Priest Lake Elementary. Three times yearly, READY! for Kindergarten classes offer parents an integrated, organized life style approach which enhances literacy, mathematics, and social-emotional development within a child’s first five years.
Through continued fundraising and generous donations our goal is to provide enrichment opportunities to all students of PLE as need arises and programs are introduced.
